Moved to Dickinson, TX
The depot pictured here was built in 1895. The original depot was built in 1893, but it burned shortly after, and a boxcar was sidetracked and used as a depot until this structure was erected.
The depot remained on this site until the 1970's when it was offered to the Weed N Wish Garden Club. Knowing its importance to the area, they decided to fundraise for the rest of the restoration of both depots. Both were a part of Galveston, Houston, and Henderson Railroad Line, which was one of the earliest railroads in Texas. Charted in 1853. the G, H&H was one of the oldest lines in Texas to retain its original charted name and the first railroad to reach Texas Gulf Coast. The line gained financial stability in 1882 under the ownership and empire of Jay Gould.
The League City Historical Society formed in 1989 and made several attempts to have the depot moved back to League City before it was restored but with no success.
